Schnader Chair Collection (Painted)
These painted chair designs were executed by Raymond Schnader of Royerstown, Lancaster County, PA, in the 1940s. The designs are from his furniture restoration work. A group of Maryland friends of HSEAD, bought the Schnader Chair collection from Mr. Raymond’s estate, and organized the collection and sales for HSEAD at national meetings during the 1980’s. At some point they donated the collection to HSEAD. A sample of one pattern set is shown on this page, reduced in size. Each design consists of one 8.5 x 11 digital color photo page showing one to three design fragments, depending on the chair they came from, along with a tracing of the pattern from which they were made. The patterns are complete with second slat if any, and any additional striping and decoration. The actual size of the chairback design above is appr. 9.5 inches wide, and the design fragment at left is about 3.75 inches. The one below is about 3.5 inches wide. These three come together as a set, on one picture page. Our catalog pictures show only the left side of the main slat, to help you decide which ones you want to buy.
